I think some of the reason for voting against the Proposition has to do with benefits for a married couple. When they are considered married then the partner would get benefits such as medical insurance from the company the other one works at if the company offers such insurance.
If the state considers a "Married Couple" only a man and woman then gay couples would not be considered married and thus the company would not have to pay health insurance or a pension or other benefits afforded to married couples.
Although I think some of it might have to do with some people thinking the idea of being gay as being wrong, but some of it is also a concern for added expenses for companies and other institutions having to pay for a married couple more than just for a single person.
Precisely. If that's the case it's a disgrace. Does that mean that gays and lesbians should not have the same conditions? By voting in favour of proposition 8 you are putting a price tag and love.
It shows the values of 6,156,848 (52.2%) Californians.
If they are considered married, then everyone's costs will go up especially for health care. Gays and lesbians are generally considered more at risk to get HIV and Aids and would require expensive treatment and then increased medical payments. This would then increase everyone's insurance premiums - both company costs and for those that pay for their own insurance.
Many of the opponents to the proposition say that it is because of gays and lesbians risky behavior that put themselves into the Aids situation and why should the rest of us have to pay for someone elses risky behavior? They know it can cause the illness and even death, but they do it anyway. It is not only a price tag on love, but the behavior associated with it.

Each of us has our own perception and beliefs to every situation. When it comes to a human relationship, I think we must act and follow the moral and legal reasons behind. We know that it is a big debate and issue worldwide because of the same sex marriage topic. If marriage counseling or payday installment loans can help a couple’s budget and their marriage, they should really consider getting onboard immediately. Financial issues are one of the leading causes of marital conflict. Sadly, the divorce rate is over fifty percent, and a huge reason of divorce happens to be disagreement over money. Many newlyweds rush to the altar, thinking that marriage is a piece of cake with no sour after taste. Although marriage has its rewards, it will probably be the hardest thing you’ll ever do, especially when it comes to finances. I have also experienced marriage money issues. My husband and I think conversely when it comes to money. As a child, I remembered saving every penny I found and overtime, grew into a large sum – enough to purchase my first car during my high school days. My husband, on the other hand, was never taught the money management skills necessary to live a practical adult life. If he wants something, he goes out and buys it. However, we’ve made it work by discussing our problems. We frequently disagree, but every married person can agree that marriage is all about compromise. And we work hard to compromise when it comes to our budget. My marriage advice to any newlywed would be to speak openly with your spouse about everything, especially when it comes to money. Communication is the biggest key to a happy marriage. Seek help from marriage counselors if you need help with your communication skills. And if for any reason you need help covering any unexpected expense, don’t resort to an overdrawn bank account or addition fees. Payday installment loans have helped my marriage on different occasions, and more people should use these types of loans when they’re in a temporary financial jam.

Cost
Yes, it boils down to money.
