Do you remember when I talked about the usage of medical marijuana? It raised quite a lot of discussion in the blog. I just discovered that in a position paper, a leading American medical association has endorsed the medicinal use of marijuana, called for more studies of its medical uses, and urged the US government to get out of the way. The position paper from the American College of Physicians was released last Friday after being approved by the group's governing body.

The American College of Physicians (ACP) is the nation's second largest doctors' organization, behind only the American Medical Association. It is made up of some 124,000 internal medicine specialists dealing primarily with adults.

I'm writing this post in answer to Steve's comment "Drugs = Bad".

You are right Steve, drugs are indeed bad, it just depends from what do you consider a drug. When I wrote the original post (obviously a provocation) by drugs I really meant Marijuana, as the picture showed. The facts are very different form the perspective you presented, the number of deaths caused by the "legal drugs" is much higher then the illegal ones, legal drugs cause much more damage both to the person's body and to the society as a whole.

These data refer to 2002 in the United States.

Is it? And why isn't wine or beer illegal, for that matter? It just makes no sense.
